May Wrap Up -Paisley Park, Alexander & Cherrelle & More!

Updated: May 30, 2023

Early May was the Senate hearing for the Prince Rogers Nelson Highway bill, which passed and was sent to the Governor. Next was an invite to Paisley Park for the Governor's signing of the bill for Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway. Prince's sister Sharon Nelson was in attendance at both events and spoke at Paisley Park about Prince's wishes for the music in the infamous Vault. Mark Webster, Sam Cooke and Bob Flynn were the key people that worked with MN Dot and legislature to move the bill along and now it is a reality, the 7 mile stretch that passes along Paisley Park will be named Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway.

During that day at Paisley Park, we were invited into the Sound Stage area where videos of Prince were playing concert footage and view some of Prince's costumes, cars and other things in his beautiful collection. Once outside again at the front of Paisley Park, there were a few speeches given, and the governor signed the bill and made the vision of the Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway a reality!

Next up in May was Doors Open Minneapolis! My two favorite places were the Foshay Tower, which was built in 1929, and was the tallest building in Minneapolis. There is an observation deck on the top floor that you can visit anytime. Just contact the desk at the W Hotel. The IDS is now the tallest building, and I was able to visit the 50th floor and take a picture of the neighboring Foshay Tower.

Supporting live music in Minneapolis is what I love! Alexander O'Neal and Cherrelle performed together! They each did a few of their iconic solo songs, then came together to do their infamous duos, including Saturday Love!

Live music is everywhere every night of the week, especially in the summer months, outside in parks, live music venues, be sure to watch this page for updates!

Kick Off to Summer was on the MN State Fair Grounds Memorial Day Weekend! Several bands throughout the fairgrounds, including Jay Bee and The Routine on Saturday! When at the fair, be sure to watch for the MN State Fair Gophers!
