Today I had the opportunity to attend an inspiring masterclass with the incredibly talented Stokley - who started out with the group @mintconditionofficial , whose musical journey has helped shape the sound of our city.

Hearing him share his story, answer questions, and offer real wisdom for those building, growing, or continuing their journey in the music industry was both insightful and inspiring.

And knowing that Stokley’s own musical journey began in the very halls where he returned to share his knowledge today made the moment even more special.

Music. Mentorship. Community. Legacy.

These are the moments that remind me why I love the Minneapolis Sound. 💜🎶

Grateful for the afternoon at Walker West — and even happier to have captured this moment with Stokley, he's incredibly humble and kind.

What started in 2001 — a block party outside Golden Thyme Café on Selby, started by Mychael and Stephanie Wright, held in the weeks after 9/11 as a way to bring the neighborhood back together had about 600 people that first year; this year's 25th drew around 10,000.

A free community music event in the heart of the Selby Avenue neighborhood, and where many musicians have their roots. Stokley being one of them .

Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins is currently recovering after being hospitalized for a severe sickle cell anemia crisis and the artists kept her name prominent throughout the night and sent prayers and well wishes to her.
